Who Is Covered Under My Car Insurance?

Your policy covers you and your family members who are living at your house when using your car or someone else’s car with their permission. If you permit someone else to use your car and they are not on your policy, they are also covered under your policy.

Coverage is provided if you are driving your car for personal use. This includes driving to work, running errands, or going on vacation. If you are using your car for work activities, that is not covered. For example, if your work requires you to deliver packages to people, that would not be covered under your personal auto policy.

  • Collision: Covers damages to your car from a collision from another car or object when you are the at-fault driver.

  • Comprehensive: Covers damages other than collision such as theft, fire, flood, or vandalism.
